Compensation and Benefits

A compensation range is listed for all of our non-instructional positions (exempt and non-exempt) and is determined based on related education and job experience.  For instructional positions, compensation is a state rate based on your degree level and the number of completed years of experience as determined by the NC Department of Instruction.  Mecklenburg county offers its teachers a local supplement which adds a percentage to the state rate.  Salary Schedules can be viewed here.

  • The CMS teacher pay schedule includes the salary determined by the state of North Carolina as well as the Mecklenburg County supplement - one of the highest county supplements in the state.

  • CMS strives to provide employees with the most competitive benefit package in the industry.  We take pride in being able to offer comprehensive and affordable benefits.  Visit our Employee Benefits web page for more details.

  • Our teachers are included in one of the strongest U.S. public pension systems, the North Carolina Retirement System.  Employees contribute just 6% of their salary to the System and CMS contributes an additional 15.21%.  More information can be found by clicking here.

CMS provides a wide range of benefits to suit different needs.  This page provides general information on all the benefits offered to employees.  Current employees can access the cms.hrintouch.com site for specific information on costs, enrollment, or leave of absence information.  Click here for more information.
